PARTIALLY RESOLVED: UnitedHealthcare vs MyMichigan Health

UnitedHealthcare and MyMichigan Health have reached agreement to renew their network relationship for employer-sponsored and individual commercial plans. Members enrolled in these plans will have continued, uninterrupted access to the health system’s providers statewide and the following hospitals:

  • MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw
  • MyMichigan Medical Center Standish
  • MyMichigan Medical Center Tawas
  • MyMichigan Medical Center Sault

Unfortunately, UnitedHealthcare and MyMichigan have made the decision to end their network relationship for Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans. Contract negotiations for those types of plans have concluded without a renewal.

Medicare Supplement plans are not affected and MyMichigan Health remains in-network for those members.

UnitedHealthcare vs SSM Health

SSM Health and United Healthcare agreed to extend their current contract for 30 days, or through January 31, 2026.

Negotiations have threatened in-network medical coverage for more than 140,000 people in the bi-state region.

United Healthcare says without a new contract, SSM’s hospitals, facilities, and physicians in Missouri and Illinois would be ineligible for United’s Medicaid and employer-sponsored plans.

Both sides are expected to continue talks in January. For now, United Healthcare patients can continue seeing SSM Health providers at in-network rates.

RESOLVED: UnitedHealthcare vs Bronson Healthcare

On Tuesday, December 23, Bronson Healthcare and UnitedHealthcare announced that a multi-year agreement had been reached. The contract agreement avoids a potential stop in coverage that would have gone into effect for patients on January 1, 2026.

As a result of the agreement, all Bronson hospitals, outpatient locations and physician offices remain in-network for members enrolled in UHC Commercial and Individual health plans. It affects the following hospitals:

  • Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo
  • Bronson Battle Creek Health
  • Bronson Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw
  • Bronson South Haven Hospital

Members enrolled in UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans, including Group Retiree and Dual Special Needs Plans, as well as UnitedHealthcare Community Plans in Michigan (Medicaid) will also continue to remain in-network with Bronson and will have uninterrupted access to the health system’s providers and hospitals.

RESOLVED: UnitedHealthcare vs Fairview Health

Fairview Health Services and Eden Prairie-based UnitedHealthcare have reached a multi-year agreement that keeps the Minneapolis health system in the insurer’s network through 2028, avoiding a significant disruption in access to care for about 125,000 people who get insurance through their employers

Here are the impacts on patients who use Fairview providers.

  • UnitedHealthcare plans — commercial and Medicare Advantage — remain in network.
  • Patients can continue seeing Fairview providers in 2026.
  • Appointments already scheduled for 2026 will proceed as planned.
  • No insurance plan changes are needed to stay in network.
  • Emergency care remains available to all patients, regardless of insurance.

Neither side released details on how they settled their differences.

On Tuesday, Fairview posted an online message for patients announcing the contract. UnitedHealthcare thanked patients for their patience in a website posting.

UnitedHealthcare vs SSM Health

Patients who use both SSM Health doctors and UnitedHealthcare insurance received letters warning that if the two sides don’t reach an agreement by December 31, they will have to find new doctors or pay higher out-of-network costs.

While the article states that SSM Health has created a microsite for affected patients, it states that UnitedHealthcare didn’t respond to a request for comment. As per one of my earlier posts, they have also created a microsite for affected members.

The article also notes that negotiations between Aetna and BJC Health are expected to conclude successfully.

UnitedHealthcare vs TriHealth

TriHealth and UnitedHealthcare are still negotiating, but have not yet reached a provider network contract agreement. If no deal is reached by December 31, patients will face out-of-network costs to continue seeing their TriHealth doctors.

Medigap Plan G and other supplemental plans will not be affected by the negotiations. The dispute only impacts UnitedHealthcare commercial and Medicare Advantage plans.

Patients are encouraged to stay informed and take proactive steps to protect their healthcare access as the deadline approaches. They should also be aware that the deadline to initiate a Continuity of Care request is January 30, 2026.

UnitedHealthcare vs Corewell Health

UnitedHealthcare is currently in active negotiations with both Bronson Healthcare and Corewell Health. While Bronson’s agreement with UnitedHealthcare was extended through February, Corewell’s agreement with UnitedHealthcare has not been extended.

If Corewell and UnitedHealthcare aren’t able to reach an agreement, Corewell will be out of network for people enrolled in employer-sponsored commercial and individual exchange plans.
